Gang violence has erupted in Manenberg and Hanover Park on the Cape Flats, just days before schools reopen, prompting a community policing forum (CPF) to increase visibility.
Western Cape police are investigating a murder and several attempted murders after a 24-year-old man was gunned down and two others, aged 14 and 30, were wounded in Ruimte Road, Manenberg on Thursday.
"According to reports, a Toyota Yaris stopped in Ruimte Road, and the passenger got out and fired several shots at the 24-year-old [man], fatally wounding him in the head and upper body. The 14-year-old boy was hit while standing at the tuck shop, and the 30-year-old [man] was injured while waiting for a taxi," police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk said.
The shooters are still at large.
